Beach Bums

Yesterday is was really really really hot in Portland. So Krista, Gavin, Alayna, Maddy and I headed to the beach to stay cool. Only in Oregon is it cooler at the beach! It was a GREAT day, we had many "mother of the year" moments to laugh about. Maddy is getting really good at standing up all on her own and keeping her balance. I love to see her standing on her sturdy little legs, at first she was all wobbly legged like Bambi, but really seems to have the hang of it now. She is conquering the world, one milestone at a time and I am loving every minute.

At the Zoo

I snapped a picture of two cute little monkeys at the zoo! Here is Maddy and her buddy Morgan a couple of weeks ago at the zoo. It was Maddy's first trip, I think she liked playing in the grass with the paper bag the most, maybe she's still a little too young to be interested in the animals. But it was a fun girls day nonetheless.

Determination

These pretty petunias are a mystery to me. They must have travelled in on a breeze because I didn't plant petunias this year. I am totally fascinated that not only is it growing out of a crack in cement, but it is thriving, and beautiful to boot!

Liver 'n' Peaches

What a combination! Apparently, it is NOT a good idea to give a baby liver and peaches. Maddy loves liver. Maddy loves peaches. But liver 'n' peaches do not love Maddy. We had a pukefest two nights ago and I think I know the culprit. I gave her a cube of liver and a cube of peaches for dinner (separate, not blended) and as I was feeding her I was thinking to myself "blech, this would totally make me yack". Well, I was right. We went through a crib sheet, our bedroom's sheets, the guest bed's sheets, several towels, four onesies and three nightgowns in the process. I kept moving beds and couldn't deal with changing sheets in the middle of the night, I was just too darn tired. Liver does not smell very nice the second time around. But the next morning she was back to her happy, smiley, singing self again, so no big damage done. I decided NOT to document this in pictures, I'm sure you appreciate it.

New Stroller

My Mom found this sweet double stroller at a garage sale for fifty bucks! We love it!!!!!!!! Our other stroller was a not-so-gently-used second hand one and the brake always came on making us come to a screeching halt and was a surefire way to awaken a sleeping baby. Not good. This new stroller is super smooth and we tried it out with Laura and Mary this week. Lulu didn't like it so much at first, but as soon as we got outside she was loving it. Several people asked us if they were twins, which we think is pretty funny since it looks like Maddy could eat Lulu for dinner. Sometime in the next year or two I'll be cruising around with two of my own babies, it was a fun peek into the future of carting around double babies.

He's Touching Me!

This picture is old, but I am finally getting around to naming and organizing all my photos..... About a month ago Maddy and I went to see Joshua (and his mom Becky). Joshua and Maddy are going to grow up, fall in love and get married someday - we have it all planned out. So here is a shot of the future lovebirds, although at this point Maddy thinks he has cooties. "Mooo-om, he's touching me!"

Fun in the Curtains

Maddy loves to play in our sheer curtains. She entertains herself for quite some time playing peek a boo, banging on the glass, talking to her doggie on the back patio and rolling around. Here are some shots from today, in the blurry one you can see her top 4 teeth -- she has 6 total now and I believe she is starting to work on 2 more on the bottom.

We are headed down to Philomath for the holiday, I am hoping to catch up with my good friend Rebekah and her 3 kids. I haven't seen her in wayyyyyy too long... just a few years ago we were working together in Corvallis and she was expecting her first baby and now she has 3 and I have one... time flies!
